Client Services Trainee

This position is for a highly motivated self-starter who is solutions-oriented and can work in a fast-paced creative environment. The Client Service Trainee plays an important support role to support Account Managers / Account Directors in managing the day to day client business and ensuring that detailed communications, strategic guidance and a high quality of work is done in a timely manner. This role is part project manager and part account support, working closely with the program execution teams on day-to-day event deliverables and planning. Responsibilities include tracking project timelines, preparing client meeting documents, generating event documents, managing financial processes and other internal supportive duties.

The Client Services Trainee role demands a proactive individual with self-motivation who can both run with identified responsibilities but also raise their hand when direction is unclear. Our pace is fast, our process fluid and collaborative. We are looking for someone who is eager to learn, quick to solve problems, detail-oriented and organized to the extreme. No two days are alike in our office, so being flexible in supporting evolving programs will be key to success in this role. The Client Services Trainee will represent MKTG in a fun but polished and professional manner.

This specific role will support the Account Manager and Account Director in marketing support for a Bay Area/NYC media/tech client. This role may support other Account Managers / Account Directors in working with other clients and/or with San Francisco office events.

During his/her time with MKTG, the Client Services Trainee will learn event management skills. Possible areas include: catering, ancillary meetings, hotel/conference center management, budget management and tracking skills, team management and internal communications skills, and how MKTG and our clients particularly work and do business together.


  • Direct support for members of the Account Management team on multiple programs
  • Tracks project deliverables and timelines to meet client needs and project deadlines
  • Assists Account Manager and Account Director with budget tracker and invoice processing
  • Assists in building programming schedules and key program documents for on-site activation
  • Responsible for managing specific projects/assignments
  • Potential to serve as on-site support at events as needed


  • Excellent organization and communication skills (writing, speaking, listening and expertise in Microsoft Office and Google Doc software)
  • Timely decision making skills
  • Exude enthusiasm, confidence and passion in the work we do
  • Communicates effectively across teams and has good understanding of Client and Agency business
  • Client management and project management experience a plus
  • Experience or passion for tech preferred
  • Must be detail oriented
  • Strong written, communication and presentation skills
  • Consistently reliable and confident in personal work and abilities
  • Strong attention to detail/follow through
  • Ability to prioritize
  • Works well with all departments and disseminates information quickly and with respect to others' workload
  • Ability to manage budgets and understand financial processes
  • Work in-person at the MKTG San Francisco office
